I’m back!!!!

Ok, so I’ve been very neglectful of my blog for 2013…wow last entry was Feb 2013! So much has happened in a year. Sold old house, now in a much bigger home with basement to house my Gammill quilting system. I love my new studio! Trip to Malaysia…fantastic…met all my long lost cousins…actually I think my family is the long lost cousins since all our cousins, on mums side, are still in Malaysia. Such a beautiful country…I’ll have to make more trips out there. My Granny passed away, she was 105 years old!! I hope I live and surpass her age….So many wonderful stories of my Granny. I also joined the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild...awesome people…learning loads! I’m also working on quilts again. Work and kids (almost grown up), keep me busy. Sure can’t wait to retire again!
Dear blog, I promise I will keep up with postings this year….there, I did it….now I am committed to keeping up with blogging.
Recently, I joined the Crazy Quilt course offered by Kathy here. It’s going to be fun…especially meeting new people.
Cheers and happy quilting! 😉

This one is special…a while ago one of my quilting groups requested that we submit a block to help out a fellow quilter who lost her loved one. This is the final result……..my block is in there somewhere!

Please enjoy these pics….since this is my year in the Chinese calendar, the year of the Snake, I will attempt to finish all my UFOs, of which I have many, and post as I quilt along………

My Historical Quilting…My very first few quilts!

I don’t have many pictures of quilts that I quilted over the years, partly because I haven’t made many, but also because of moving many times during my previous career and of course computer crashes. Being a computer technician in my previous life, you’d think I would have backups, but no not me, computers don’t crash for me, boy was I wrong! I did manage to find a few…

Paper Piecing

Paper-Piecing….Have you tired it yet?
This is my first ever paper-piecing quilting project. I tested a pattern from here . It is a super easy pattern to follow, and the results are simply amazing. The pattern is called Intersections, and is available from the link above.

I used charm packs from Moda for the diamonds, Kona Snow for the back ground fabric and a brown and black polka dot fabric for the stripes. I still need to quilt and bind the quilt. That will take some time. The charm pack is designed by Malka Dubrawsky and is the Simple Marks line.

I finally completed this quilt, yes! Fast forward, it is 2017 now but had this completed at end of 2016 as part of my UFO (Unfinished Objects to us quilters) challenge at my quilt guild.

Here is a close up of the quilting, I used chocolate coloured cotton thread for this quilt. It almost seems 3D. I love the modern quilting pattern.

Enjoy. 🙂
